DWP WASPI £2950 BIG UPDATE: We are happy to share some great news – thanks to your amazing support, we’ve reached our stretch fundraising goal of £180,000 for our ongoing legal case. Your contributions have helped us take strong legal action to fight for justice, and we couldn’t have done it without you.
Now, as we take the next steps in court, we’re increasing our fundraising goal to £230,000, and we need your help again. Here’s a clear breakdown of how your donations have been used so far and what’s coming next.
How Your Support Helped Our Legal Action
The money raised has allowed us to move ahead with confidence. With your help, we have been able to:
Got Legal Advice from Top Experts
We hired a top team of lawyers – barristers from Blackstone Chambers and solicitors from Bindmans. This is the same team that earlier helped us win against the unfair definition of ‘injustice’ used by the PHSO (Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman).
Sent a Strong Legal Warning
Our legal team drafted and sent a clear and detailed legal letter, known as a “letter before claim,” to the Government. This step is important to start a legal case properly.
Reviewed the Government’s Reply
After getting the Government’s response to our letter, we took advice from our legal team again. Their expert opinion gave us the confidence to go ahead with our case.
Filed Our Case in the High Court
Based on the advice, we officially filed our case in the High Court – the next big step in the judicial review process.
Set Aside Funds for Legal Risk
Every legal case carries risk. If we lose, we may have to pay the Government’s legal fees. So, we’ve wisely kept some funds aside just in case.
Applied for a Cost Cap
We’ve also applied for a “costs capping order”. This helps limit the amount we would need to pay if we lose and also controls how much the Government could claim from us.
Sharing Our Legal Grounds
We promised to publish the detailed legal reasons behind our case, and we’ve done that. Some parts are hidden because the Government doesn’t want us to share their response yet. But we’re trying hard to make those documents public too.
Why We’re Raising the Target to £230,000
Legal cases, especially ones against the Government, can be very expensive. Courts look at how much money we’ve raised when deciding how to set legal cost caps. That’s why we’re increasing our target to £230,000 – to protect ourselves financially and to keep up the fight.
We now need your help again. If you can, please share our CrowdJustice appeal with your friends, family, or anyone else who might support this cause. The more people we reach, the better chance we have of hitting our new goal.
What’s Next?
We will keep updating you on every new step in the case – from court developments to new fundraising goals. Stay connected, and together we’ll continue pushing for fairness and justice.
Thanks to your support, our legal case is strong and moving forward. With the original goal of £180,000 reached, we’ve been able to take solid action – from sending legal warnings to filing our case in the High Court. Now, to ensure the court gives us fair protection from legal costs and to continue fighting, we’re increasing our goal to £230,000. We truly appreciate every share, every donation, and every bit of support. With your continued help, we’ll keep standing up for what’s right.
FAQ
What is this legal case about?
This is a judicial review challenging the way the Government and the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman (PHSO) define and handle ‘injustice’. The case argues that their current approach is unfair and needs to be corrected through the courts.
Why is more money needed after reaching the £180,000 target?
The new target of £230,000 is needed to cover any legal costs in case we lose and to strengthen our position. The Court also considers our fundraising progress when deciding cost-capping orders.
What stage is the case at now?
The legal team has already filed the claim in the High Court. We are now waiting for the Government’s formal response and preparing for the next stages of the case.
Why are parts of the published legal papers blanked out?
Some parts have been hidden because the Government has objected to us sharing their response publicly. We are working to get permission to publish everything for full transparency.
How can I help the case move forward?
You can help by sharing our CrowdJustice appeal link with your friends, family, and social circles. Every donation, no matter how small, helps us reach the new goal and continue the legal fight.
